6 FREE Places to Visit in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, is a beautiful city that can be explored in just a couple of days. I visited KL in August 2019 for three days in collaboration with Ritz Carlton. During my time there, my friends @LoveLifePassport and I decided to explore the best places in the city. There were a couple of spots that we wanted to go to, but it turned out that they weren’t free, which was a turn-off for us. So, for those who are on a budget or just like free things, here are my top 6 places to go to during a short trip to Kuala Lumpur that are FREE. You can even do this in just one day!

1. Batu Caves

If you have seen photos of a rainbow staircase built into the side of a limestone hill, that’s Batu Caves! The staircase wasn’t always colourful, though; the staircase was painted in 2018, and since then, it has become a huge tourist attraction. Nonetheless, it is still quite a fantastic place to visit, so it made it on my list. It is free to visit the staircases, but at the top, you can actually enter the caves for an entrance fee of 33 RM (Malaysian Ringgit) or $7, which includes a guide, flashlight and helmet. Batu Caves opens at 6AM, but even when I went at 6:30AM, there were already people there. Not a lot, but still some people. I’d definitely come here for sunrise!
